Influencer and content creator Gisela Amponsah has opened up about her decision to leave X, citing persistent online trolling and what she describes as people using her name for engagement.
Speaking in an interview on Talk to Kula hosted by Headless YouTuber, Gisela said she believes her name has become a tool for online traction.
“I feel like people have reached a point where they know if they mention Gisela, they will get some amount of engagement and it works for them,” she said. “That’s why they keep doing it.”
The influencer disclosed that she has been off X since 2021, following a past controversy on the platform, and has no intention of returning.“
I left in 2021… I don’t even have the app on my phone,” she disclosed. “I have two phones and I don’t have Twitter on any of them.”
Despite her absence, Gisela noted that her name continues to trend regularly on the platform.
“Every day, Gisela is on Twitter. It’s crazy to me,” she said, adding that she often hears about the discussions from others rather than witnessing them firsthand.
Addressing why she chooses not to respond to critics, Gisela made it clear that her silence is intentional. “I don’t want to stoop so low to certain people,” she said. “I feel like it’s disrespectful for someone to get a response from me.”
According to her, stepping away from X was a way to protect her peace and avoid being drawn into unnecessary online exchanges. “I don’t want to be triggered to respond to you. That is why I left,” she stated.
Her comments highlight the growing challenges influencers face with online scrutiny and the different ways public figures are choosing to manage their digital boundaries.
