Counsellor Charlotte Oduro has disclosed that the most painful experiences of her life have come not from the outside world, but from within the church.

Speaking on the TalkLifeGH podcast, the outspoken relationship coach recounted how she was heavily criticised by some religious figures following her divorce.

She said she was subjected to intense scrutiny and sermons targeted at her situation.

“My pain is not from the outside world. The outside world never criticised me. My pain is from the church,” she stated.

According to her, some men of God preached about her for an entire month, despite her insistence that she had done nothing wrong.

“The worst pain in my life as a woman, from where I’m sitting, is from the church. I got men of God who preached me for a month. What did I do? I didn’t do anything,” she said.

She clarified that her divorce was a mutual decision after the marriage failed, stressing that it should not have made her a target for condemnation.

“I didn’t kill anybody, I didn’t snatch anyone’s husband, and I didn’t cheat on my husband. I divorced because the marriage didn’t work out and we’ve both gone our separate ways,” she explained.

The counsellor questioned why her situation was treated as though she had committed a grave offence, saying she felt unfairly judged and attacked.

“That is not the plan we all wanted, but that is what has happened—and the church wants me killed? For what?” she asked.

Charlotte Oduro further asserted that no member of the church had the right to bully her, adding that she chose silence for a long time but would no longer tolerate such treatment.

“I stood and still stand that nobody from the church has the right to bully me. If you do, I will fight you,” she declared.

Her comments come amid ongoing criticism tied to some of her past teachings, where she strongly advised women to remain in their marriages regardless of the challenges.

Critics argue that her divorce appears to contradict those positions, fuelling claims that she does not practise what she once preached.
