Rapper Pappy Kojo has opened up about the inspiration behind one of his most talked-about body art choices—tattooing logos of popular Ghanaian television stations on his chest.
Speaking in an interview with Headless YouTuber on the Talk to Kula podcast, posted on Saturday, April 25, the “Ay3 Late” hitmaker explained that the tattoos are a tribute to the media platforms that shaped his upbringing and creative vision.
According to him, the stations—GTV, Metro TV, Viasat 1 and TV3—played a significant role in his early life.
“I feel like everything that I know now started from GTV,” he said, as he reflected on the numerous shows he grew up watching.
“I grew up on Concert Party, Kantata, Passions, Taxi Driver, Home Sweet Home, Akandrama, Talking Point… I could keep going on and on,” he added, emphasising how deeply television influenced his childhood.
Pappy Kojo explained that his connection to these stations goes beyond nostalgia, describing them as foundational to his creativity.
“I feel like this is what shaped me to become who I am today,” he noted.
He also spoke about his experience with Metro TV and other stations, highlighting the variety of international and local content he was exposed to.
“Same with Metro TV… Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Knight Rider, Mind Your Language—bro, we watched all night,” he said.
Touching on Viasat 1, he explained that although he was not always in Ghana, the station left a lasting impression whenever he visited, as it was considered a fresh and exciting addition at the time.
“I have a good memory of Viasat. It was the new thing… anytime I came to Ghana, everyone was watching it,” he shared.
Summing up his decision, the rapper stressed that the tattoos represent more than just logos, but they are symbols of his journey.
“I feel like these TV stations really gave me the vision,” he said.
Pappy Kojo also disclosed that he has around 20 tattoos in total and got his first one at the age of 18, marking the beginning of his journey with body art.
