Actor Prince David Osei has stirred debate on social media after criticising President John Dramani Mahama over the recent persistent power challenges and rising electricity costs.
In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Monday, April 27, the actor expressed concern about Ghana’s ongoing energy situation, linking it to what he described as a recurring pattern under President Mahama’s leadership.
According to him, the name “Mahama” has become “synonymous with dumsor,” referencing the severe power outages that plagued the country between 2012 and 2016.
He further suggested that similar concerns are re-emerging in the current period, claiming that every tenure of president Mahama has been significantly marked by power instability.
Prince David Osei also raised alarm over the high cost of electricity, noting that tariffs remain “through the roof” despite the country’s past struggles with erratic power supply.
He argued that the combination of unreliable electricity and expensive tariffs continues to place a heavy burden on households and businesses.
“Ghanaians deserve better than this. Please, Mr. President, we deserve better,” he wrote.
The issue of “dumsor” remains a sensitive topic in Ghana, given its impact on economic activities, small businesses, and daily life during previous power crises.
