Afro-dancehall star Stonebwoy has urged musicians across the African continent to be more intentional with their message, stressing that African music can play a key role in fostering unity.
In a video shared by Playafro, the artiste emphasised the power of music as a unifying tool and called for greater awareness in the kind of content being produced.
According to Stonebwoy, collaborations among African artistes have already helped bridge cultural and geographical gaps, but there is still more to be done to maximise their impact.
“Musical collaboration is one of the easiest tools we can all capitalise on to disseminate this consciousness we have to preach,” he said.
Stonebwoy further noted that while music continues to connect people across borders, the message within the music is just as important.
He urged artistes to use their platforms not only for entertainment but also to promote awareness and strengthen a shared African identity.
He also advocated for the inclusion of political and socially conscious themes in songs, explaining that such content can help educate listeners and deepen conversations around unity on the continent.
The musician maintained that there is no justification for divisions among Africans, encouraging creatives to use their influence to reinforce togetherness through their art.
