The Swesco Old Students’ Association has honoured its immediate past headmistress, Mrs. Golda Esi Andam, with a heartfelt send-off ceremony held on Friday, May 1, at the Channel One TV premises in Accra.
The event brought together members of the old students’ fraternity, school stakeholders, and well-wishers to celebrate her impactful leadership and service.
Speaking at the event, the Global President of the association, Samuel Attah-Mensah, reflected on the renewed sense of unity among old students.
“Once upon a time, once you hit the exit of Swesco, it would be a bye-bye for a very long time… but today, we are here as a family, as it’s meant to be,” he said.
He also highlighted Mrs. Andam’s unique journey, noting that her story continues to inspire many.
“She is somebody who was planted on the land of Swesco as a student, rose through the ranks of her career, and returned as head of school… for us, that was the beginning of a very good story,” he added.
In an emotional response, Mrs. Andam expressed deep gratitude to the old students for their unwavering support throughout her tenure.

“I want to sincerely thank each and every one of you. From the very beginning, you did not only recommend me, you also rallied behind me in prayers, wise counsel, and countless other forms of help,” she said.
She further acknowledged their support during challenging moments.
“Even at the time of my transfer, I was deeply moved by the passion and love with which the entire old student community rose to the occasion,” she noted.
Mrs. Andam, who made history in 2020 as the first old student to lead the institution, was transferred to Methodist Senior High School in Saltpond on April 7, 2026.
