Entertainment journalist Edem Tsortsorme has provided an assessment of the Artiste of the Year category at this year’s Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) reviewing the performance of the key contenders in the race.
Speaking during the Daybreak Hitz show on Hitz FM Edem evaluated the nominees based on their output within the eligibility period focusing on consistency, impact, and overall contribution to the music industry.
The assessment included leading acts such as Sarkodie, Black Sherif, Wendy Shay, Stonebwoy, Medikal and gospel star Diana Hamilton.
According to him the Artiste of the Year category is one of the most competitive at the awards scheme, requiring a careful evaluation of an artiste’s overall performance, including hit songs, stage presence, collaborations, and both local and international influence.
He emphasized that such assessments help frame industry conversations ahead of the awards ceremony, as stakeholders and fans continue to debate who best fits the criteria for the top honour.
As the TGMA approaches discussions around consistency, impact, and dominance within the year under review are expected to intensify with each nominee’s performance coming under greater scrutiny.
