In a heartfelt and selfless move that has warmed hearts , Black Sherif has donated the prestigious TGMA Artiste of the Year prize to his “family” – handing the GH¢100,000 cash award to Arathejay and the listening party to Gonaboy.
The multi-talented rapper took home the night’s biggest honour for the second time at the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) but chose to celebrate by lifting others instead of keeping ‘the spoils’ for himself.
Black Sherif dominated the awards, winning five out of his nine nominations. The victories included Afro Pop Song of the Year, Songwriter of the Year, Album of the Year for “Iron Boy” and Best Hip Hop Song for the street anthem “Where Dem Boyz.”
During his emotional acceptance speech for Artiste of the Year, the “Second Sermon” star made the generous announcement that left the audience in awe.
“We won the GH¢100K for Arathejay. And then we won the listening for Gonaboy.”
The gesture highlights the strong bond and sense of brotherhood among the young wave of Ghanaian talents.
Black Sherif referred to both Arathejay and Gonaboy as family, turning what would have been a personal victory into a collective celebration.
This marks the second time Black Sherif has claimed the Artiste of the Year crown, cementing his place as one of the most consistent and impactful voices in Ghanaian music.
His “Iron Boy” album continues to receive massive acclaim both locally and internationally.
