Fashion show producer and choreographer Dionne Slash Gavin has added another milestone to his growing international career after being honoured at the 8th edition of the AVO Fashion Reception in Cotonou, Benin.
Gavin received the Prix de Reconnaissance et du Mérite (Recognition and Merit Award) as a Scénographe de Mode (Fashion Scenographer), recognising his impact in blending cultural storytelling with innovative visual production across West Africa.
The award also highlights his work under the professional name “Slash,” where he has built a reputation for transforming fashion presentations through choreography, movement, and large-scale event design.
Reacting after receiving the award, Gavin expressed appreciation to the Beninese fashion community and those who have contributed to his journey.
“I am honoured to receive this award and grateful for the recognition, the journey and everyone who made it possible,” he said.
Beyond the recognition, the award shines a spotlight on Gavin’s extensive international footprint.
Over the past decade, he has worked across Africa, Europe, and the Middle East, producing and directing fashion events in countries including the United Arab Emirates, Morocco, Togo, Mali, Burkina Faso, Congo, São Tomé and Príncipe, and Denmark.
As CEO of DSG Models Management, Gavin has also left a strong mark on Ghana’s fashion scene. His production credits include major events such as Accra Fashion Week and Rhythms On Da Runway, while also contributing to pageantry through productions including Miss Glam and Miss International Ghana.
The recognition in Benin further cements his status as one of Ghana’s influential figures, shaping fashion production beyond the country’s borders.
The AVO Fashion Reception is an annual fashion show in Benin that showcases African fashion, textile, heritage and creativity and also promotes African fabrics, particularly hand-made.
