Creative and blogger Joseph Adjei Junior, popularly known as BlacVolta, has issued a public apology following backlash over resurfaced old tweets linked to his past social media activity.

The statement, released on Thursday, May 14, 2026, comes after online discussions intensified amid speculation surrounding BlacVolta’s association with socialite SoAfrican, who was recently arrested in connection with an alleged online sexual exploitation case.

Screenshots of old tweets and videos allegedly linked to BlacVolta circulated widely on social media, with some users drawing connections between his friendship and previous collaborations with SoAfrican.

Reports and online discussions indicated that the resurfaced posts contained content that many considered disturbing and insensitive.

In his statement, Joseph Adjei said the posts originated from an older personal X account used between 2010 and 2011 before it transitioned into the official BlacVolta account.

He stated that while some screenshots being shared online were not authentic, he acknowledged that some posts from that period were offensive and unacceptable.

“I also recognise that there were posts connected to that period that were very offensive, insensitive, and wrong,” he stated.

He further apologised for language and jokes that he said normalised and trivialised serious sexual violence, admitting the content had caused disappointment, hurt, and anger, especially among women and survivors.

Addressing accountability, BlacVolta said personal growth does not erase the impact of past actions and pledged to take steps toward doing better.

As part of that commitment, he said he plans to engage with organisations in Ghana focused on gender-based violence awareness, women’s empowerment, and responsible digital culture.

He also indicated plans to create safer spaces and strengthen values within his team and platform.
