Rapper Ko-Jo Cue has announced that he and fellow rapper Lil Shaker will release “Pen & Paper 2,” the sequel to their acclaimed 2017 collaborative hip-hop album “Pen & Paper,” later this year.
Ko-Jo Cue made the revelation in an exclusive interview with GhanaWeekend on the red carpet of the 27th Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMAs).
According to him, the highly anticipated project is expected to drop in the third quarter of 2026.
“Ah, you heard it here first, “Pen and Paper 2,” me and Shaker… Come on! We’re gonna hit you. Third quarter. So much,” he said excitedly during the interview.
The original “Pen & Paper,” released in 2017, was widely celebrated as a bold statement for “real rap” and lyricism in Ghanaian hip-hop at a time when Afrobeats and mainstream commercial sounds were dominating the scene.
The album stood out for its strong lyrical depth and authentic hip-hop identity, earning praise from rap lovers across the country.
Some of its standout tracks included “Pen & Paper” (title track), “Untitled”, and “Up & Awake” featuring Kwesi Arthur.
Speaking about the awards night, Ko-Jo Cue said he would have loved to win every category, including those he was not nominated in, but admitted that Songwriter of the Year remained his top priority.
“I would love to pick every award, including the ones I wasn’t nominated for. But Songwriter of the Year for sure, you know, that would mean so much to me,” he said.
Despite his ambition, the rapper maintained that simply earning a nomination was already a victory for him.
“I’m already a winner. I made it into the nominations. It means that for the year, when we were considering some of the best songs, I was back.
“I appreciate being here so much, and whatever happens, all the people that are in the categories with me are deserving winners. If it doesn’t fall to me, it falls to somebody like them. So that’s cool,” he added.
