Rapper Medikal has expressed his full support for Black Sherif following his Artiste of the Year win, saying the award was well deserved and that he felt just as happy for him as he would have if he had won himself.
Speaking on Onua Showtime with Nana Ama McBrown on Saturday, May 17, Medikal praised Black Sherif’s journey and described him as a true representation of hustle and perseverance.
According to him, Black Sherif’s music has always reflected the realities of struggle, survival and the determination to succeed, making his victory a reflection of his authentic journey from the streets to stardom.
“If you listen to Blacko’s songs from day one, the content is about struggling and trying to make it, coming from the street. So he’s a street boy, blessed by God,” Medikal said.
He added that Black Sherif winning the top honour gave him genuine joy, stressing that the happiness he would have felt if he had personally won the plaque was the same feeling he experienced watching his colleague triumph.
“So Blacko winning Artiste of the Year is equally deserving as me picking the plaque. The joy I would have felt if I had won was the same joy I felt when Blacko won Artiste of the Year. I’m happy for him. Clapping my hands and nodding for him, I was happy for my brother,” he stated.
