Media personality MzGee has opened up about a frightening health scare after giving birth to her son, revealing that doctors told her her condition had become critical.
Speaking at the second edition of her Convergence of Mothers initiative, MzGee disclosed that she needed an emergency blood transfusion after her blood levels dropped dangerously low following childbirth.
“They said my vitals were cold,” she recalled.
Beyond the physical complications, MzGee also spoke about the emotional struggles she experienced after becoming a mother, admitting that she initially felt distant from her newborn son.
“At that moment, I felt awkward towards my son,” she said.
According to her, conversations with other mothers later made her realise that such experiences are more common than many people openly admit.
“Having conversations with a lot of my friends who are mothers, I realised it seems to be a normal place for a lot of people,” she explained.
MzGee further stated that society often presents motherhood as only joyful, while ignoring the emotional and mental challenges many women face after childbirth.
“They only show the smiles and excitement around having a child. But nobody talks about the mother’s life after childbirth,” she said.
She explained that her Convergence of Mothers initiative was created to give mothers a safe space to share their real experiences, learn from one another and support each other through motherhood.
