Pascaline Edwards: I don’t believe in religion, it’s a form of enslavement

Actress Pascaline Edwards has opened up about her views on religion, stating that she does not believe in organised religion because she considers it a form of “enslavement.”

Speaking in an interview with Zionfelix on YouTube, sighted by GhanaWeekend on Thursday, May 28, the actress explained that although she believes in God and follows the teachings of Jesus Christ, she does not subscribe to any particular religious group.

“I don’t believe in religion. I believe religion is enslavement,” she said.

According to Pascaline Edwards, religion often involves people creating systems and ideologies for others to follow blindly, something she does not agree with.

“It’s just like me creating a group for people to join and then asking them to follow my ideology. With that what am I trying to do and I call that religion? So that can’t be religion and I don’t believe in that,” she stated.

The actress further explained that she believes Jesus Christ came to guide people to God rather than establish religion.

“Even Jesus Christ didn’t come to do religion so for me, I follow the words of Christ that there’s God and so he is directing us to the right person — he’s the way, the truth and the light,” she added.

She also stated that she has read the Bible, the Quran and other spiritual books, and from her understanding, they all point to one supreme source.

“I have read the Bible, the Quran and other books and I have realized that all of them point to one source. So why would I belong to a specific religion when the source is there for me to contact directly,” she explained.

She further argued that some religious followers have become too dependent on spiritual leaders to make decisions for them.

“And that is actually happening to some people because if their pastors don’t tell them what to do, they are unable to do anything,” she said.
