Dancehall artiste Shatta Wale has called for unity in the music industry, stating that the long-running rivalry between artistes, especially himself and Stonebwoy, has become unhealthy.
Speaking in an interview with the EIB Network on Thursday, May 28, Shatta Wale said too much tension and competition among artistes create an unsafe and uncomfortable atmosphere within the industry.
“Too much of the rivalry, too much tension, people feeling like they are not safe because it doesn’t make this thing healthy,” he said.
The dancehall musician explained that despite public perception, he does not have personal issues with any artiste and sees Stonebwoy as a brother.
“Stonebwoy is like a brother to me. Same as Sarkodie. I’ve had issues with Sarkodie and now we’re talking,” he stated.
According to him, he has developed a different mindset and now wants Ghanaian musicians to work together and grow the industry collectively instead of constantly fighting each other.
Shatta Wale also revealed that he dreams of a time when top Ghanaian artistes can move together internationally as one united front.
“Once upon a time, it should be me, Sarkodie, Stonebwoy, and Medikal in a jet flying to go and do a show. It shouldn’t be only me,” he said.
The comments come after he was asked whether there could ever be genuine brotherhood between him and Stonebwoy without controversy or tension.
