The final funeral rites of late Nollywood actor Alexx Ikenna Ekubo-Okwaraeke, popularly known as Chief Ikuku, were held on Thursday, June 18, in his hometown of Arochukwu, Abia State, Nigeria, bringing together family, friends, colleagues and admirers for a solemn farewell.
Hundreds of mourners, including members of the film industry, government officials, dignitaries and well-wishers, gathered at the Mary Slessor School Field in Amanagwu Village to pay their last respects to the actor, whose contributions to Nollywood were celebrated throughout the ceremony.
Dressed predominantly in white, attendees honoured the memory of the late actor through prayers, tributes and reflections on his life and career.
Several Nollywood stars, including Ik Ogbonna, Mike Godson, Ini Edo, Omoni Oboli, and Stan Nze, were present to support the bereaved family and celebrate their colleague’s legacy.
During the funeral service, emotional tributes were delivered, highlighting Alexx Ekubo’s generosity, talent, humility and impact on the entertainment industry. Speakers recounted fond memories of the actor and praised the lasting influence he had on those who worked with him.
Following the service, his remains were conveyed to his family residence at Aziukwu Ujari Village, Arochukwu, where he was laid to rest in the presence of close family members and loved ones.
