Veteran Nollywood actor Francis Duru has dismissed viral reports claiming he is battling a terminal illness, describing the claims as false and malicious.
The rumours spread across social media after a video showing the actor in a visibly frail condition surfaced online, sparking concern among fans and colleagues about his health.
In a video posted on Instagram, Duru reassured supporters that he is not critically ill and has never experienced the level of sickness portrayed in the circulating clip.
“My dear fans, thank you all for your prayers and good wishes. I’m making this video in response to a very wicked video circulating about me being sick to the level shown in that footage.
“I have never been that sick and would never be that sick. By God’s grace, I will continue to grow stronger and stronger.”
The actor accused those behind the video of deliberately spreading falsehoods to attract attention and generate online traffic.
“That video is the handiwork of merchants of darkness and wickedness—people who thrive on negativity and do not want to see others succeed. They create and spread such content simply to drive traffic.”
While the actor’s clarification put to rest concerns about a terminal illness, the disclaimer video itself generated fresh reactions from fans.
Many took to the comment section to express concern about his appearance, noting what they described as significant weight loss and urging him to take care of his health.
