Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Creative Arts Agency, Gideon Aryeequaye, has announced that all creative enterprises in Ghana will soon be required to register and obtain licences under a new regulatory framework aimed at streamlining the sector.
Gideon Aryeequaye made the disclosure in an interview with the media on the sidelines of the 2026 Behind the Scenes Ghana Project Dissemination in Accra on Tuesday, June 30.
He explained that the move is to strengthen regulation within the creative industry, stating that “every creative enterprise will have to be registered and licenced by the Creative Arts Agency.”
According to him, the licensing regime will enable the Agency to build a comprehensive database of players in the sector and make it easier to regulate the industry.
“The idea is for us to be able to gather enough database and to work with it and also to be able to find it easier in trying to regulate the system.”
The acting CEO added that the Agency is developing clear guidelines for industry players, warning that persons who breach approved regulations could face a fine, up to two years’ imprisonment, or both.
He said the initiative is aimed at bringing “sanity” into the creative space and creating the right environment for Ghana’s creative economy to thrive.
