The Accra High Court has dismissed an application by Swedru-based socialite Abu Trica seeking to stop his extradition to the United States over alleged fraud-related offences.
The ruling allows Ghanaian authorities to continue with the legal and administrative processes required for his possible extradition to the US, where he is expected to face prosecution.
The development was confirmed by lawyer and activist Oliver Barker-Vormawor, who disclosed that the court ordered Abu Trica’s extradition following proceedings on Wednesday, July 1.
Abu Trica arrived at the court premises on Thursday, July 2, accompanied by his wife.
However, after the hearing concluded, he was not seen leaving the court.
His wife was later spotted exiting the premises alone, sparking speculation that Abu Trica may have been re-arrested by authorities following the court’s decision.
There has, however, been no official confirmation regarding his current whereabouts.
