Plan financially for the future – Daughters of Glorious Jesus urges creatives

Veteran gospel group Daughters of Glorious Jesus has expressed concern about the increasing number of veteran actors and musicians appealing to the public for financial support in old age or during periods of ill health.

Speaking in an interview on Footprint TV, group member Edna Sarpong said it is unfortunate to see seasoned creatives seeking financial assistance after spending decades in their professions.

“It breaks our hearts whenever we see our colleagues on television or hear them on the radio asking for financial help because of health challenges or other difficulties.”

Edna said the group has made financial preparations over the years and does not expect any of its members to depend on public appeals for support if they stop making music.

“In all humility, respect, and by the grace of God, there is no way any member of Daughters of Glorious Jesus will have to beg for financial support if we stop singing because we have prepared and put things in place while we are still working.”

She said the group’s more than 35 years in the music industry have taught them the importance of planning for the future and making prudent financial decisions.

She said people close to the group are aware of the steps they have taken to secure their future.

Edna encouraged fellow musicians and other creatives to prioritise long-term financial planning over excessive spending on luxury items.

She also urged creatives to make adequate preparations while they are still active in their careers to avoid financial difficulties later in life.

Edna further advised gospel musicians to ensure their lives reflect the messages they preach through their songs.

“As a musician, the word of God and the songs you sing to encourage people must be evident in your life. People will question what the God you preach about has done for you if your life does not reflect it,” she added.
