Celestine Donkor shares 3 things women must check before saying ‘I do’

Award-winning gospel musician Celestine Donkor has advised women to avoid marrying men who resort to giving the silent treatment during disagreements, describing it as one of the major red flags to look out for before marriage.

In a video shared on her Instagram page, the singer said men who go for days, weeks or even months without communicating after an argument could make marriage emotionally challenging.

“The first thing to look out for is silent treatment. If there’s an issue and the person gets angry and then goes the whole day, weeks, or even months without speaking to you, you should be very careful about marrying such a person. Women are naturally conversational. When there’s a problem, they usually want to talk about it and resolve it. So if someone resorts to giving you the silent treatment, it’s something that can be very difficult to live with in marriage.”

Beyond communication, Celestine Donkor also highlighted the importance of sexual compatibility, urging women to honestly evaluate whether their level of sexual interest aligns with that of their partners before committing to marriage.

“The second thing is sexual currency. If a man’s sex drive is very high and he talks about sex all the time, you need to assess yourself. If you don’t have the same level of interest in sex, your marriage may face constant challenges. Make sure your sexual currency aligns before you decide to get married.”

The gospel artiste further advised women to pay attention to a man’s generosity, suggesting that his attitude towards tithing could reveal how willing he is to give and support others.

“Check whether he is stingy. Look at whether he pays his tithe. Don’t marry a man who doesn’t pay tithes. If he can’t give God 10%, then imagine how he will treat you, a fellow human being.”
