Actor Prince David Osei has joined calls for the release of Dennis Miracles Aboagye, following his arrest by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO).
In a post shared on his X account on Monday, July 13, 2026, the actor expressed concern over what he described as the erosion of due process and constitutional governance, warning that such actions could weaken public confidence in state institutions.
“Public confidence in institutions can be shaken when citizens question the fairness, openness, and constitutionality of government actions. Democracy suffers when fear, intimidation, and threats are used to control. It’s essential to uphold due process, no matter the issue,” he wrote.
Dennis Miracles Aboagye, a leading communicator of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and spokesperson for former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has remained a vocal critic of the John Dramani Mahama administration since the party’s defeat in the 2024 general elections.
According to a statement issued by EOCO on Monday, July 13, 2026, Aboagye is under investigation over the alleged misappropriation, misapplication, diversion, and theft of public funds amounting to approximately GH¢55 million.
EOCO said the investigation relates to his tenure as the Executive Secretary of the Inter-Ministerial Coordinating Committee on Decentralisation (IMCCOD).
The anti-graft agency disclosed that the investigation was initiated after it received a petition from the current Executive Secretary of IMCCOD, requesting further enquiries into a forensic audit conducted on the secretariat covering the period between 2022 and 2025.
