Ghanaian Afrobeats and R&B singer and songwriter Jubed has disclosed that Burna Boy, Asake and Sarkodie are the three artistes who have had the greatest influence on his music career, saying they have shaped his confidence, mindset and approach to making music.
Speaking on The Viberoom on Citi FM on Saturday, July 25, the singer said each of the three artistes inspired him in different ways, both in the recording studio and on stage.
“Honestly, my favourite artistes are Burna Boy, Asake and Sarkodie.”
According to Jubed, one of the biggest lessons he has learned from rapper Sarkodie is the importance of believing in his own music before seeking validation from others.
He explained that whenever he records a song, he reminds himself of advice he attributes to Sarkodie—that artistes and their teams must maintain the same excitement they feel after creating a song, even when critics suggest otherwise.
Jubed said he applies that mindset every time he records, ensuring that he genuinely loves every song he creates before releasing it.
The singer also credited Nigerian stars Burna Boy and Asake for inspiring his stagecraft, describing their confidence and commanding presence as qualities he admires and seeks to emulate.
“With Burna Boy, what I take from him is his stage confidence. He has this kind of aura which is crazy and very confident. And Asake is also that kind of person as well. There’s so much confidence around them.”
Jubed stressed that confidence should be balanced with humility, saying musicians must respect those who came before them while remaining assured of their own abilities.
“You have to be humble but very confident. Respect your elders but be very confident about yourself and your craft. I think that has been taking me to levels and levels.”
