‘My spirit is too big for him’ – Shatta Wale on fall out with Stonebwoy

Ghanaian dancehall artiste Shatta Wale has made fresh comments about fellow musician Stonebwoy, claiming the Afro-dancehall star once looked up to him and suggesting their relationship changed after Stonebwoy rose to prominence in the music industry.

Speaking in a teaser of an upcoming episode of The Honest Bunch Podcast, shared on the show’s social media platforms on Monday, July 27, Shatta Wale reflected on his early relationship with Stonebwoy and their current dynamic.

According to Shatta Wale, Stonebwoy frequently visited him during the early stages of his career and referred to him as “daddy.”

“Stonebwoy is my boy. Stonebwoy used to be with me. He used to come to the first room I rented. He used to call me daddy.”

Shatta Wale alleged that things changed after Stonebwoy began receiving recognition from the media, with people comparing the two artistes and suggesting Stonebwoy was more talented.

Despite insisting he has no personal issue with Stonebwoy, Shatta Wale claimed the BHIM Nation president would struggle to face him because, in his words, “my spirit is too big for him.”

“I’m cool, but he can’t watch me. My spirit is too big for him. I’m too confident. I’m not the fake type,” he stated.

Shatta Wale further accused Stonebwoy of failing to stand by his words, contrasting that with his own approach.

“He, with things he says, he doesn’t follow it… When we say we are coming to beat you, we are coming to beat you. We are not coming to play.”

Shatta Wale also suggested that Stonebwoy’s relationship with veteran reggae and dancehall artiste Samini has deteriorated over time.

According to him, he sometimes feels sorry for Stonebwoy because he believes the artiste does not want Samini to remain more influential than him.

“I’ve been telling people, sometimes when I see him, I feel bad because I feel like he hates Samini. He doesn’t want Samini to be bigger than him,” Shatta Wale claimed.
