Actress and entrepreneur Beverly Afaglo Baah has been laid to rest, as family, friends and colleagues from Ghana’s creative arts industry gathered at the forecourt of the State House in Accra on Saturday, August 8, 2026, to bid her a final farewell.
The final funeral rites brought together scores of mourners and prominent personalities from the entertainment industry, who came to honour the actress and reflect on a life marked by memorable performances, entrepreneurship and lasting relationships.
Her husband, musician Choirmaster, joined the family in mourning Beverly, who died on May 24, 2026, aged 42, after a two-year battle with cancer.
Among those who attended the funeral were actresses Yvonne Nelson and Jackie Appiah, actor and politician John Dumelo, Roger Quartey, Sonnie Badu, Akuapem Poloo, Praye Tiatia and his wife, Selly Galley.
Musician Sonnie Badu also delivered a song ministration in honour of the late actress, adding an emotional moment to the ceremony as mourners celebrated her life and legacy.
A tribute from Beverly’s colleagues and friends in the movie industry was read by actor Van Vicker.
“You may be gone, but your works, the passion with which you achieved them, and the impact they have had on us will remain etched in our hearts,” the tribute said.
Her husband, Choirmaster, also delivered an emotional tribute, reflecting on the pain of losing his wife.
“I cannot imagine facing tomorrow without you,” he said.
Beverly’s children also paid tribute to their mother, remembering the love, guidance and lessons she gave them.
“Your love and lessons will stay with us forever,” they said.
Beverly Afaglo was a familiar face in Ghana’s film and television industry, having appeared in productions including “Single Six”, “A Northern Affair”, “The Game”, “Return of Beyonce”, “Crime to Christ”, “Girls Connection” and “Never Again.”
Beyond acting, she was also an entrepreneur who built her food business, Traffic Shawarma, into a growing venture with multiple branches.
Her death triggered an outpouring of grief from colleagues, friends and fans, many of whom have since celebrated her contribution to Ghana’s creative industry.
The final funeral rites were composed of a memorial service and tributes from family, friends and colleagues, ahead of her private burial.
A thanksgiving service is scheduled for Sunday, August 9, at Action Chapel International in Tema.
Beverly Afaglo is survived by her husband and their daughters.
