Ghanaian live music collective Senkulive have officially begun the rollout of their forthcoming project, “The Revival”, with the release of their first single, ‘Oblayoo,’ on 5 August 2026. Stream here: https://orcd.co/senkulive_oblayoo
Rooted in Ghanaian traditional music while drawing from Afro-punk, Highlife, Rap and Afrobeats, Senkulive have developed a sound that blends funky guitars, live instrumentation and contemporary influences. Their music explores themes of society, people, culture and love.
‘Oblayoo’ offers an introduction to the musical and cultural world of “The Revival”. Built around traditional sounds from Accra and combining English and Ga lyrics, the song celebrates Ga culture and identity through a story centred around taking a lady to Jamestown, one of Accra’s historic coastal communities.
More than simply a song, ‘Oblayoo’ is positioned as a celebration of culture, identity and legacy–setting the tone for a project that looks back to Ghanaian musical roots while presenting them through Senkulive’s modern live-band approach.
A WATERFALL JOURNEY TO THE REVIVAL
Rather than releasing “The Revival” as a complete project all at once, Senkulive will roll out the project using a waterfall release strategy, introducing a new song approximately every month while keeping previously released songs active across streaming platforms.
Each release will also be accompanied by a live performance video, giving audiences the opportunity to experience the band’s music in the format in which Senkulive truly comes alive: as a live ensemble.

The final release, “The Revival,” will complete the journey and bring together the project’s musical narrative, marking the arrival of the full “The Revival” experience.
THE SOUND OF SENKULIVE
Senkulive’s performance setup features keyboard, drums, bass, lead guitar and percussion, with additional instrumentation including saxophone and trumpet. The band’s music is grounded in Ghanaian traditional music but deliberately crosses genres and generations.
‘Oblayoo’ was written by niiSanku Dromor, Senkulive’s leader and keyboard player, and composed by the band. The track was recorded by Andrew James Addo at Nafti Studios, with mixing and mastering by Knii Lant3i, who also serves as the band’s guitarist. The recording features vocals from niiSanku Dromor, drums by Niiayi Lucas, bass by Derrick ‘deebass’, percussion from Mr. Quist and Mawuko, saxophone by Nana Sax, and trumpet by Senanu Excite.
With “The Revival”, Senkulive are inviting listeners into a musical journey that connects Accra’s cultural heritage with a new generation of Ghanaian live music.
