The RNAQ Foundation, founded by businessman Richard Nii Armah Quaye, has donated assorted drinks to communities across the Ga State as part of efforts to support this year’s Homowo celebrations.
The donation forms part of Mr Quaye’s commitment to continuously support the Ga community and contribute to the promotion and preservation of Ga traditions and culture.
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Quick Angels Limited, Emmanuel N.L. Lamptey, who spoke during the donation, said the initiative followed consultations with members of the Ga community on the kind of support they needed for this year’s celebrations.
He explained that, unlike last year when Mr Quaye engaged various Ga chiefs, the RNAQ Foundation this year decided to engage the Ga public directly to determine how best it could support the Homowo festivities.
“Last year RNAQ, Mr. Richard Nyamapwe, visited the various Ga chiefs, and as part of his pledge and promise to them was that he’s going to continuously support the Ga community, push the Ga agenda and ensure that we elevate the Ga tradition to the next level,” he said.
According to Mr Lamptey, feedback gathered from the public showed that drinks were among the key items needed during the celebrations.
“The data that we picked directed us to a point where they said they want us to support them with drinks because during the Homowo Festival, one key thing that they traditionally use is the bookbun and you can’t just eat, they need something to push down whatever they are eating,” he said.
He noted that the Foundation has therefore prepared packs of drinks, with trucks expected to distribute them across various Ga communities.
“So today, to support the Homowo Festival, Mr. Pei of RNAQ Foundation has organised packs of drinks and trailers to follow and ensure that we visit all the Ga communities to ensure we support and get everybody in a happy, happy, happy mood,” Mr Lamptey added.
The donation is part of the Foundation’s broader commitment to supporting the Ga community and contributing to the successful celebration of Homowo.
Mr Quaye also used his engagement with the Ga Mantse, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, to announce plans to introduce an educational scholarship scheme for brilliant but needy Ga students.
He said the initiative is intended to ensure that financial difficulties do not prevent talented students from accessing education.
