Former Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan and his brother, Baffour Gyan, received an outpouring of love and support from family, friends and loved ones at the one-week observance of their late father, George Gyan Mensah, on Friday, August 21.
The ceremony, held at the New Gbawe Cluster of Schools AstroTurf, attracted Sports Minister Kofi Adams, Ghana Football Association President Kurt Okraku and former GFA President Kwesi Nyantakyi.
Football legends Abedi Pele, Stephen Appiah and Sammy Osei Kuffour, as well as Abedi’s sons and several current and former Black Stars players and high-profile personalities were among the mourners who attended to commiserate with the Gyan family.
The gathering also drew personalities from the creative arts industry, sports administrators, dignitaries, relatives and friends who came to pay their respects to the late Gyan Mensah, who died at the age of 82.
The final funeral rites for George Gyan Mensah are scheduled for November 1, 2026.
