Dancehall artiste Shatta Wale has called for the dissolution of the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, arguing that it has failed to make a meaningful impact on the creative industry.
According to the artiste, the ministry has become largely invisible, with little innovation or tangible support reaching actors, musicians and other creatives.
“I think the Creative Arts, they have to dissolve that ministry because we don’t even hear anything,” Shatta Wale said.
He made the comments during an interview on GHOne TV on Friday, August 28.
Shatta Wale maintained that creatives who contribute to Ghana’s cultural economy, particularly those with international appeal, deserve stronger institutional support.
“We don’t see any innovative things coming out from that side [ministry],” he added.
He cited the struggles of filmmakers and other creatives, questioning why the ministry does not provide greater support to people promoting Ghanaian creative works locally and internationally.
