Musician Isaac Obeng Mensah, popularly known as Barosky, has been repatriated from the United Kingdom and is safely back in Ghana, Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has announced.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs fully sponsored the musician’s repatriation from Manchester and is providing him with psychosocial support and financial assistance to aid his reintegration into society.

Ablakwa disclosed the development in a social media update following reports last month about Barosky’s difficult circumstances in Manchester, where he revealed that he was homeless, unemployed and struggling to meet his basic needs.

The minister expressed gratitude to members of the Ghanaian community in the UK and media personality Nana Romeo for bringing Barosky’s situation to the attention of the authorities.

He also commended Ghana’s High Commission in the United Kingdom for coordinating the repatriation.

“We strive to leave no Ghanaian behind,” Ablakwa said.

Barosky had earlier disclosed in an interview that he was relying on others for food and had gone days without bathing because he had no accommodation.

He had also appealed for assistance to secure accommodation and return to Ghana, explaining that he had lost contact with his family and had only a few friends in the UK.

The musician further said his passport was with the police and that he feared retrieving it because he would be required to provide an address, which he did not have.

Barosky gained recognition in Ghana’s music industry through collaborations with highlife artistes including Kofi Nti and Ofori Amponsah.

He featured on Kofi Nti’s “Rakia” and Ofori Amponsah’s “Otoolege” before releasing his 10-track debut solo album, “Okyerewaa Ba”, in 2006.
