Two-time Artiste of the Year, Black Sherif, has disclosed that the story behind his song Jolie, one of the tracks on his latest six-track EP, Sun Sherif, was inspired by a real person.
The singer and rapper disclosed that the song was written with a real lady in mind, although he deliberately kept some details of the story away from the public.
Speaking to Naa Oyoe Quartey on Brunch in the Citi on Thursday, September 24, he said that while the inspiration for Jolie is based on a real-life experience, he chose to conceal parts of the story, leaving listeners to interpret the song and possibly figure out who or what it refers to.
“Sun Sherif has six tracks. The Jolie song on the EP is qualifying somebody real, but I covered the story of it small.”
The disclosure adds another layer of intrigue to Jolie, as fans may now be encouraged to listen more closely to the lyrics and search for clues about the person who inspired the song.
Black Sherif has built a reputation for combining personal experiences, emotions and storytelling in his music, often leaving room for listeners to connect with his songs based on their own interpretations.
