Apostle General, Founder and General Overseer of Royalhouse Chapel International, Sam Korankye-Ankrah, has recounted how he secured a government scholarship to attend St. John’s Grammar Senior High School after embarking on a one-week fast and praying for divine intervention.
According to the renowned preacher, his journey to secondary school was uncertain after his father informed him that he could not afford the cost of further education.
He said the development left him disappointed after successfully passing the Common Entrance Examination at the elementary level and looking forward to continuing his education.
Speaking on the Upside Down show on Channel One TV on Sunday, September 27, Apostle General Korankye-Ankrah said his disappointment prompted him to seek God’s intervention after he recalled teachings about prayer and fasting.
He explained that, at the age of 13, he decided to fast and pray specifically for a scholarship after learning that some students were able to pursue their education through government scholarship opportunities.
“I happened to have passed the common entrance exams in elementary form 3 and I was very happy so I went to my father and said I have passed the common entrance exams and I have to go to secondary school and my father said I was on my own so I was disappointed.
“But my mother was a Presbyterian and I thought I heard the catechist preaching one day about prayer and fasting so I said let me fast and ask God to give me a scholarship because I heard that people can go to school through a scholarship and I was 13 years old at the time. I put my breakfast and lunch aside and by the time I finished the one week fast, news came from St. John’s Grammar SHS that I was one of the people slotted for a government scholarship.”
