Apostle General, Founder and General Overseer of the Royalhouse Chapel International, Sam Korankye-Ankrah, has narrated the remarkable journey of the church, revealing how it evolved from a students’ fellowship into an international Christian organisation with branches in different parts of the world.
According to Apostle General Korankye-Ankrah, the roots of Royalhouse Chapel can be traced to his student days when he and other young people formed a fellowship known as Showers of Blessings.
The fellowship, he explained, was focused on spreading the Christian faith through a combination of music, drama and preaching, activities which helped the group reach out to other students and people within their community.
Speaking on the Upside Down show on Channel One TV on Sunday, September 27, Apostle General Korankye-Ankrah explained that following what he described as an encounter with God while in Holland, he decided to return home and transform the existing fellowship into a church.
“During my student days, we had a students’ fellowship called Showers of Blessings and we used to evangelise through music, drama and then preaching. And when I left [for Holland], they were still meeting and so when I had an encounter with God and I called my wife that I am coming home, I told them that our Showers of Blessings will now become a church and so they should start meeting on Sundays.”
Apostle General Korankye-Ankrah further disclosed that the church did not immediately settle on the name Royalhouse Chapel.
Instead, the organisation underwent a number of name changes as it developed and expanded, eventually settling on the name that has become associated with the ministry.
“When we started the church, we used to call it Abundant Life and when I came [back from Holland], I changed it to International Bible Worship Centre and then later, we changed it to Royalhouse Chapel because we were opening new branches and we didn’t know how to call the other branches and that was why we changed the name to Royalhouse Chapel churches around the world.”
