Afrobeats star Mr Drew is trending again, and this time it’s not for a new song.
The singer went after some users during an X Space he hosted to promote his new single ‘Steeze.’
What started as a chill fan interaction quickly turned into chaos.
Earlier this week, a screenshot of Mr Drew’s TikTok account went viral. It showed that he was no folowing anyone. Fans started dragging him, saying he complains about not getting support, yet he doesn’t support others.
To clear the air, Mr Drew opened an X Space to interact directly with his fans.
But things got heated when one participant called him “chale”, a casual slang used by many Ghanaians.
Mr Drew didn’t take it lightly.
“I am not your mate. A lot of people think I am their mate, but I am not your mate. A lot of the boys think they are my age mates. When it comes to money and age, I am not your mate, and you need to put that in your head,” he fired.
The comment didn’t sit well with the fan who clapped back, saying, “Let me talk. You are not even an A-list artiste for you to say you are not my mate. Block me.”
From there, it was war. Mr Drew called him a “small foolish boy” and “kwasia” and threatened to block him right on the Space.
Some fans say Mr Drew was being too proud and disrespectful to the same people who stream his songs.
Others argue that fans forget boundaries, just because an artiste is accessible online doesn’t mean you can address him anyhow.
Mr Drew later clarified that his outburst wasn’t aimed at his real fans but at trolls who deliberately come to provoke artistes during live sessions.
Mr Drew later yesterday, October 20, dropped a video of himself dancing with lyrics directed at these trolls on X.
