Ghana’s rich history is taking the global stage through The Eyes of Ghana.
The Eyes of Ghana is a documentary produced by IshowSpeed and executive-produced by Barack and Michelle Obama.
It will be directed by two-time Academy Award winner Ben Proudfoot.
The documentary follows Chris Hesse, the personal cameraman to Ghana’s first president, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.
Following the 1966 coup, Hesse risked everything to save over 1,000 rolls of film that captured the birth of African independence.
Now at 93, Hesse is teaming up with Ghanaian filmmaker Anita Afonu to screen this priceless archive in Accra for the first time.
Adding a modern twist is IShowSpeed, whose involvement as a presenter brings a new generation of global attention to Ghanaian heritage.
It is a powerful bridge between internet culture and African history.
After premiering as the opening documentary at the Toronto International Film Festival and winning the Audience Award at the Hamptons, with 94 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, The Eyes of Ghana is more than a film, it is a celebration of who tells our story.
It was originally released in September 2025, premiered in Ghana and is now hitting theatres in the US and Canada.
First trailer for ‘THE EYES OF GHANA’, the first-ever film produced by IShowSpeed.
