In a revealing new interview with BBC Focus on Africa host Waihiga Mwaura, the Comfort hitmaker opened up about music, business, and the one meeting that almost happened.
Mr Eazi disclosed that he actually produced and made music with Beyoncé for the Lion King: The Gift project.
He was invited to a small, exclusive dinner premiere where Jay-Z, who he describes as his North Star, was going to be present. His team was already there, but he had to cancel.
“I had a show. They had already paid me. There was going to be like 8,000 fans coming there to watch me,” he explained. “And I was like, okay, if it’s meant to be, it would happen.”
The singer also spoke about his current musical direction.
“With my latest music, I’m just trying to pass across fun, good vibes. Now I’m trying to make music that my niece can dance to on TikTok. That’s what I’m trying to do.”
Also, when asked what his wife, Temi Otedola, has introduced him to that he wouldn’t have discovered on his own, his answer was deeply personal.
“Myself. Just being more self-aware. Because your partner becomes a mirror, right? And you could see yourself through them. They show you the best and the worst part of yourself. I wouldn’t have been able to see sometimes. You have to commit to a partner and then you then see those things.”
Mr. Eazi says Jay-Z is his “North Star”, but he once missed an opportunity to meet the music mogul because he had a show for 8,000 fans.
