Award-winning dancehall star Stonebwoy has finally addressed concerns about why this year’s BHIM Festival is being moved from the Accra Sports Stadium to the University of Ghana Sports Stadium, Legon.
Speaking to GhanaWeekend during his visit to the Black Challenge – Ghana’s National Amputee Football Team training at Mensah Sarbah Park on Friday [October 23], Stonebwoy dismissed claims that the move is to restrict access for fans.
“We have done Accra Sports Stadium twice. How many times would you want us to do Accra Sports Stadium? Maybe ten, maybe twelve? To do Legon is actually very strategic as well,” he said.
He revealed that there is an even bigger reason behind the choice of Legon, which will be made public soon, adding that he believes in action more than talk.
Stonebwoy also hinted at challenges with the Accra Sports Stadium, including maintenance issues and difficulties securing the venue on time.
“You can see that the place is not well kept for the matches. We also couldn’t get a reply early. Let me not go into details. But beyond that, the UG Sports Stadium is equally very massive, it’s an appropriate venue and security is very well guaranteed.”
Stonebwoy assured BHIM Nation that the team is working to ensure smooth access and security for what promises to be the biggest BHIM Festival yet.
The 11th edition of BHIM Festival is scheduled for December 24, 2026, at the UG Sports Stadium, Legon, with tickets available at bhimfestival.com.
