Actress Yvonne Okoro is calling on Ghanaians to come out in their numbers to support Ghanaian movies.
Speaking on McBrown’s Onua Showtime, the actress urged movie lovers to support her and her colleagues in the industry ahead of their upcoming movie, ‘Agency for the Dead.’
The movie, directed by Shirley Frimpong-Manso, is set to be one of the biggest productions in 2026.
Yvonne Okoro noted that filmmakers are doing their part to produce quality content, and now it is left for the audience to also do their part by showing up to watch when the movie is released.
She made a comparison to how Ghanaians support Hollywood movies and asked for the same energy to be given to Ghanaian productions, stressing that the growth of the local film industry depends on the support of patrons.
“We too are doing our part and we are praying Ghanaians will support us. When it’s Hollywood Avengers, you all go out to support, but when it’s Ghana movies… we need the same support. It will help create more creative jobs,” she said.
‘Agency for the Dead’ premieres on Friday, October 30.
