Rapper Pono Biom has clarified he does not hate Shatta Wale and that there is no sense in people asking they bury the hatchet when they have never been friends.
There have been calls for Pono Biom to reconcile with Shatta Wale because some of the artistes who had issues with Shatta, including Stonebwoy and Kwaw Kese(well until he was pelted with bottles while performing on Shatta’s Wonder Boy album launch) have made peace.
Speaking on a phone interview on Hitz FM this morning, he said he has never been friends with Shatta Wale so it would make no sense to say the two should get together.
“Now here’s the story. I grew up from Ashaiman, Tema area and before God and man, I always say this: Shatta Wale has never been my friend. I’m a gangster. I say the truth. This is the truth about my life. I never knew him so if you (mentions a name) are my friend from childhood and something happens between me and you and another person (mentions another name) tell me, oh Pono you have to go back and be friends with him, it makes sense right?” he quizzed.
He said he has never had any connections with Shatta and that it is not hatred so calling him and questioning why he did not wish Shatta Wale happy birthday on his birthday does not make sense.
“There was never a friendship to go back to so how are we going back? I have nothing against him so if definitely I have nothing against him, what am I going back for? This is what I want people to know. There’s nothing like backwards. Me I am a real gangster”
“Aside music, I’m talking about my life settings when it comes to him and when I came into music in Accra I also had a different friend. if you watch way back none of my songs has him featured on. Not because I didn’t like him, because that time it wasn’t today but that was way back. Because we never had any connection so if we don’t have any connection how can I go back to go and do that song with him even if it’s in the past” he added.
“So me my life concerning this doesn’t have anything to do with hatred or anything. We just don’t know it,” he continued.
He concluded by saying “He’s not my friend. He can be my friend in the name of God because we’re all friends in the universe”
He also clarified if Shatta should invite him for his personal party, a private show he wouldn’t consider attending but if it is a business show, something for the public he’ll direct him to his manager to fix everything and he’ll show up and perform because that is business.
