Ace actor Kofi Laing popularly known as Kohwe has been presented with an amount of GHc 4, 000 by followers of ‘Cape Coast Oguaa,’ a Facebook page.
This was done in a short ceremony witnessed by ghanaweekend.com in the studio of Darling FM in Cape Coast.
The initiative spearheaded by Darling FM’s Candyman Lucas Mensah was borne out of a recent news story that the actor had complained he was facing financial difficulties.
They, therefore, solicited funds on social media and through Darling FM.
The amount was presented to Kohwe by Jimmy Kutin, Business Manager of Darling FM and Nana Akua Apeatsewah II, the Central Regional MUSIGA Chairperson.
After receiving the donation, he said “I am grateful to all those that contributed to this. I am looking forwarding to receiving such help from other people.”
The Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Barbara Oteng Gyasi, together with some leaders in the creative sector also donated an undisclosed amount of money and some items to the veteran actor a few weeks ago.
Kohwe was popular in the 80s for his sterling role in the Akan Drama series.
