Efia Odo in an interview on Daybreak Hitz has blamed bloggers for the “sexual” tags and social media attack on female celebrities.
She said she does not think much about the things people say about her and that she cannot control what people say.
According to her Ghanaians think negative about celebrities because that is how they want to see them.
“I don’t think much about it. It only speaks about them that it’s only sex is in their mind. When you see a female it’s only sex that you can attribute to the female then it only speaks about you. I can’t control how people see me. Somebody can see me at work every day but they can still say that I collect 300 cedis or I’m all about sex because that’s how the person wants to see me so Ghanaians wanting to know who I’m bonking and whatnot, there’s nothing to even say about it,” she said.
Talking about other females who have faced the same experiences, she said, “I think this happens everywhere in every industry. We shouldn’t accept it but then how are we going to change it? Is it by changing the way we blog about these celebrities because most of the time they get these perceptions from a lot of bloggers and people who write the news and stuff”?
“So maybe if the bloggers would try and see the positive or the other side of a person and blog positively about it then people wouldn’t have this perception that I’m sleeping with all these people or these females are doing all these things. Every time I’m in the news is because who’s Efia Odo sleeping with? Efia Odo is with Shatta Wale,” she added.
“I go to work. These bloggers are on my Snapchat. They see me go to work every day. They see me trying to put this out for young ladies to be ambitious. I talk about independence all the time on my twitter. I talk a lot about educative things on my twitter but they refuse to take that because won’t run, that won’t sell,” she continued.
She also said she is not a contributing factor to whatever the blogs say because they talk about the negative things and rather ignore the positive.
“I wear a lot of African print wear. I never see bloggers posting the beautiful African print wear that I wear”
“It’s their business to talk about when I’m wearing a bikini so why not we talk about it when I’m wearing African wear?”
