Music producer JMJ has refuted claims that he has apologised to Wiyaala for the recent controversy surrounding the artiste’s visibility in Ghana.
According to him, he said nothing wrong about Wiyaala to warrant an apology.
He told Citi FM’s Kwame Dadzie that he had said on Andy Dosty’s show that if Wiyaala said people should leave her out of their entertainment discussions, then he was sorry to have brought her name in the whole issue.
“I only said on Andy’s show that if she says I should not have mentioned her in my submission, then I am sorry that I did. I did not apologise,” JMJ.
Meanwhile, Wiyaala has shared a link to the supposed apology story on her Facebook timeline, saying she is also sorry for what she said about JMJ.
The music producer had earlier said on Kwasi Aboagye’s Entertainment Review on Peace FM that even though most of the female Ghanaian musicians were on the low, Wiyaala was making Ghana proud abroad.
“The level at which Wiyaala has taken female musicianship to, sincerely speaking I don’t think any of our female artistes have been there. Efya has also done very great. Efya, super amazing,” he said.
JMJ added in that interview that the female gospel musicians were also doing well.
He said bloggers twisted his words in that interview and the earlier one he had on Bryt TV.
In the Bryt TV interview, he was talking about female artistes in the dancehall fraternity and how vibrant they are now.
He did not say their side of the industry was dead; he said it was less vibrant.
Background
Arnold, on Bloggers’ Forum, was responding to a story that had quoted JMJ for having said that Wiyaala does not count when in the female aspect of the Ghanaian music industry.
Even though Arnold has explained he rather sought to defend her, her manager thought it was unfair to have suggested that Wiyaala had huge visibility on the international music scene than in Ghana.
Wiyaala also said she was not ready to “fool herself”, show skin or fight other artists just to winning awards in Ghana.
