Chief drummer of the Black Stars of Ghana, Joseph Langabell has recounted an experience about the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
He said on Citi T V‘s lifestyle variety show, Upside Down that Ghana’s inability to make to the semi-finals stage at the 2010 World Cup which was held in South African became a great worry to former Vice Chairman of the Ghana Football Association, Randy Abbey.
According to Langabell Randy’s blood pressure shot up when former captain Asamoah Gyan missed the penalty that ended the stars dream of making it to the semi-final stage of the tournament.
“In the dressing room, it was like everybody’s mother and father had died. It was only God. Randy Abbey’s blood pressure went up after Asamoah Gyan missed that penalty. When we were coming to the dressing room, we didn’t know something was happening to Randy Abbey. The doctors attended to him in the dressing room,” he said.
It will be recalled that the entire country was shocked when the senior national team, the Black Stars were kicked out of the 2010 FIFA World Cup Tournament in South Africa. A ‘tragedy’ that still keeps lingering in the minds of many sports sympathizers of the black stars.
