Social media has generated a lot of things including slay queens and kings except that there seem not to be a clear definition for it.
Being a slay queen in Ghana comes with all the negative attributes ladies would prefer not to be tagged with.
Actress turned musician, Yaa Jackson has rejected the slay queen tag, saying the definition in the minds of Ghanaians is not the kind she wants to be associated with.
In an interview with Mona Gucci on Kantanka TV, she noted that she knows some of her fans are slay queens but she does not want to be associated with the name.
“I’m not a slay queen,” she said and when she was asked what her definition for a slay queen is, she replied: “A slay queen is one who slays in clothes and the other one is a person who lives a fake life,” she said.
“I’m not a slay queen because our understanding of slay queen in Ghana is different. We understand it to be my second definition. We see a slay queen to be someone who showcases material things that do not belong to her so, I’m not a slay queen,” she added.
