Afrobeats duo, DopeNation have disclosed that they would not mind recording songs for any political party that approaches them
In an interview with AJ Sarpong on Citi FM’s ‘Brunch in the Citi’, the twins said even though they would be willing to perform or record songs for political parties, they will not publicly campaign for them.
“If an artiste would use his platform to support a political party, that is their personal opinion but with the songs or to perform that is business. But then to use yourself an instrument to tell your fans to vote for a particular party, we wouldn’t put ourselves in that space,” the said.
Some Ghanaian musicians have in the past, composed songs for political parties. While Daddy Lumba, Kwabena and Lucky Mensah have done for the New Patriotic Party, Nacee, Lenny Akpadie, the Jewel Ackah have also done same for the National Democratic Congress.
The issue of celebrities associating themselves to political parties has become a critical one because most people believe it destroys the careers of these celebrities.
