Highlife and afropop artiste, Kuami Eugene, has debunked allegations that he is fond of sampling songs from other artistes without giving them credit.
The singer was responding to Citi FM’s Kwame Dadzie’s observation during a special listening session for his upcoming EP titled Afro-Highlife which was held on Thursday, October 7, 2021, in Accra.
According to Kuami Eugene, his team does not take copyright violations lightly as sampled works are duly acknowledged and right owners well remunerated to avoid future issues.
He explained that his record label went through the necessary processes to obtain rights to produce the song ‘Tena Fie’, on his current project since the song contains samples from the works of highlife legends, George Darko, Obibini Takyi, and Amakye Dede.
