Kwabena Amoah Ampadu, the leader of the African Brothers Band and a son of the late highlife musician Nana Kwame Ampadu, has asked the public to help him preserve his father’s legacy.
According to Kwabena Ampadu, his father wrote choruses for about 300 songs before he died. He also wrote rap verses and asked his children to develop them into songs.
He added that his father wrote a lot of scripts for movies that he is looking forward to producing.
Kwabena noted that he would need support to pull the movie project through.
“I would need full-time support. You know, movie production is not easy and the stories he wrote as not ordinary. So when I get cameras and the crew to shoot them, we would share the revenue with whoever invests in it,” he noted.
Nana Ampadu wrote his first major script ‘Abaawa Mary’ in 1988, and later wrote several others for Danfo BA Movie Productions.
“My father was not just a musician. He wrote a lot of stories. He wrote stories for about 26 movies,” Ampadu’s seventh son, Kwabena Amoah told Citi TV.
“I can say that my father wrote about 80% of stories for the movies Danfo BA produced,” he added.
In 2017, he played the role of a pastor in ‘Life and Trials’, a movie that depicts the real life of a young couple who were hit by issues surrounding their marriage and work.
The legendary highlife musician Nana Kwame Ampadu passed away on September 28, 2021.
