Despite being arrested at the Kotoka International Airport on July 19, 2023 for breaching a contract with event giants Cruise People Limited, Ghanaian rapper and singer Black Sherif seems unperturbed.
Cruise People Limited, in a statement explaining the circumstances of the arrest, said that they had contracted Black Sherif to perform at the second edition of their musical cruise, Afro Cruise Jam, on August 19, 2023, in Greece.
The first edition of the cruise, held last year, featured Grammy-award winning artist Gramps Morgan and Abrantie Amakye Dede.
According to the statement, the firm had agreed to pay Black Sherif $40,000 to perform at the cruise where an initial payment of $20,000 was made to him and was supposed to record a video confirming his participation at the event.
Black Sherif failed to honour his commitment to record the video. They added that their lawyers even wrote to the management of the musician requesting for reason for the action as far back in May but no response.“We had no option than to report him to the Police”, The statement noted.
Astonishingly, the famous Ghanaian rapper has not commented on the arrest, and his management team has not released a statement.
But in a tweet which has really gone viral, the famous rapper urged his fans to meet him at Pent on Saturday for an unforgettable night.
According to the “Kweku The Traveller” rapper,”if you are not feeling well don’t come in front, enjoy the show from the wings or wherever the madness isn’t extreme”.
Some people have surmised that Sherif may be secure in his ability to clear his name in the breach of contract case.
Others have suggested that he may be trying to avoid drawing attention to the matter. Only time will tell how the arrest will affect Sherif’s career.
