Rapper Yaa Pono has raised concerns about the use of his popular song “Obia Wone Master” in a political campaign without his permission.
Kennedy Agyapong, an aspirant in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearership race, used the song in a campaign video without obtaining Pono’s prior consent.
Pono took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to express his dissatisfaction, stating, “Why is my song being used for a campaign without my notice, @honkenagy, this is not cool for me.”
The video shows Agyapong and his campaign team energetically dancing to the beats of “Obia Wone Master.”
“Obia Wone Master,” featuring Stonebwoy, was released in 2018 and won Best Hip-Life Song of the Year at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) in 2019.
