Ghanaian Hiplife artiste, Belinda Nana Ekua Amoah, publicly known as Mzbel, has set the record straight on rumours circulating in the media that she got stranded in South Africa.
In an exclusive interview with Ghanaweekend, Mzbel disclosed that she had lost her passport, as well as those of her children, during her recent trip to South Africa.
According to her, a friend had advised her that she could use her Ghana card to pass through the airport, citing a statement allegedly made by Ghana’s former Vice President, Dr. Mahamud Bawumia. However, this attempt was unsuccessful, forcing her to extend her stay in South Africa.
Mzbel expressed frustration at the speculation surrounding her situation, cautioning netizens to be mindful of how they engage with her on social media. She vowed to respond to anyone who comes at her wrongly.
“I wasn’t stranded, it was just that plans didn’t go according to plan. Our trip was supposed to be four days but I lost me and my kids passports and so one of my people said I can use the Ghana Card.
“And so we didn’t even call the airline to check on anything and unfortunately when we got there, the lady was trying to school us and it was so embarrassing.”
